Abstract
Consequences of the first wife in a polygamous marriage requires the ability to adapt to the situation and himself. Self-acceptance is the ability of an individual to understand who they are in all circumstances, accept themself as a whole, including shortages and ability, and can receive relationship with other people. This study aims to provide an overview of self-acceptance on the first wife in a polygamous marriage. In-depth interviews was conducted of four wives as a first wife (aged 20 to 45 years) in a polygamous marriage. The study is ongoing in the space of five months, since February until June 2012. These results indicate that the first wife with a positive self-acceptance is reflected in the ability to understand themselves and assess themselves in a positive, while the first wife with a negative self-acceptance will judge him negatively and not independent.
