Abstract
The aim of this research was to develop a scale of shame and guilt in Javanese culture. This research was divided into three step: (a) exploration of shame and guilt based on indigenous psychology approach; (b) develop of shame and guilr into scale of shame and guilt; (c) psychometric analysis (Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) & Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)). Participants involved in this research were students of Junior high school in Central Java (N=338). Shame and guilt consists of nine items clustered into two factors (isin and isin-isinke). Factor isin describe the situation that show shame and guilt felt by the people who thinking about the failure. Factor isin-isinke describe the situation that show shame and guilt felt by the people who have the failure, because he/she thinking of the impact to others people around he/she. Data were analyzed using FACTOR Program 8.10. Reliability test show isin had a weak reliability <0.6, and factor isin-isinke had a pretty good reliability >0.6.
